We offer a very high coach to athlete ratio.   Our coaches are experienced athletes with a combined triathlon life of over 125 years.  They will provide you with the information that will help you train over the winter, and to do your sport more efficiently and faster, whether it is a sprint or an Ironman.

Coaches

Back again are:

  • Len Gushe - Anyone who has raced in Ontario will know Len.  He consistently crosses the line first and usually well ahead of his next professional competitor.  In 2005, Len set 6 Canadian Masters swim records and was ranked #1 in the world for 200 IM and 200 Back.  He won Muskoka twice, was the Canadian Long Course Champ in 2002 and won his age group in Kona in 2000. Len spends his winters in Clermont and is familiar with the roads and where to train.  Len's years of experience as a swimmer turned pro triathlete will be a huge asset to our camp.  Oh yeah, he is also a physician.
  • Simon Dearing - Simon has been a fireman for 18 years and therefore has to be in top physical form.  He competed in the Firefighter Combat challenge for 7 years and achieved records in both the individual and team competition.  He then took up bike racing.  To date, his credentials include NCCP coach, Spockids Instructor, Learn to Race Instructor, Barnet Bicycle Institute Mechanic, Granton Institute of Technology Mechanic, and Fit Kit professional.  He offers mobile bike fit, spin scan analysis of pedal stroke, heart rate/power testing and bike maintenance and repair.  [He's a busy guy!]

  • Dave Watts - Canadian Irongeezer.  Ironman Canada 2007 will be Dave's lucky 13th Ironman which include Kona and many podium finishes.  Dave has participated in the sport since 1984 including Graham Fraser's first Triathlon in Grimsby.  The love of Triathlon and particularly the bike is what Dave brings to the camp along with his enthusiasm and willingness to share this with others. Twice, Dave has been the recipient of Oat's Long Course Master Triathlete of the year award  as well as an Age-Group  winner of the Subaru  Triathlon Series.
  • Colm Kelly - Colm did his first sprint triathlon 12 years ago as a youthful 49 year-old. He graduated to Olympic distance and competed at 3 ITU Worlds before turning his attention to Ironman. He now has 6 Ironman finishes to his credit, with a PB of 11:48 established last November at Ironman Florida at age 60, just to prove that you can get faster as you get older! He is racing Ironman USA this year and his goal is to qualify for Kona.

  • Moira Horan - Moira began training for triathlons 14 years ago after 20 years of inactivity.  Her personal favourite distance is Ironman and after 6 races at this distance, she set her PB of 11:26 at the age of 51. Moira has had 4 top five finishes in her age group and a USAT honourable mention.  She is racing Ironman USA and Ironman Florida this year.
  • Barbi Carrol - Barbi began swimming at the age of 5 reaching the National level by the age of 14.   She received a swimming scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU) and was ranked as a NCAA All-American.  She got started in triathlon in 2001 and found that her background in swimming was an advantage in the sport.  She has completed Ironman Canada twice with her personal best time of 10:46, which earned her a 3rd place finish in her age category.  Barbi is a certified NCCP Swim Skills Instructor, Triathlon Coach, Yoga instructor and Personal Trainer. She is the mother of two daughters ages 8 and 5.  Barbi is training to get back into triathlon racing this coming 2009 season.

  • Sheri Fraser - Sheri's bio can be found here.

  • Louise McGonigal - Ironman Canada 2007 will be Louise's 18th Ironman which include
3 Kona , many age-group wins and podium finishes in all but 2 IM races. At age 63, Louise became the Inaugural 70.3 World Championship Age-Group Winner 2006. Over her 20 seasons in the sport, Louise has won the OAT Master Triathlete award for both Olympic and Long Course Distances , as well as, the Age-group series winner in the  Trisport Series. As a retired teacher, Louise continues to inspire and motivate through her teaching of Pilates and Yoga. A win in the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2008 when she moves into a new age group is just one of her future goals.  Louise has just been given the honour of Long Distance Master of the Year by Triathlon Canada.

Cost

The camp fee is $650 for the 7 day camp and $800 for 10 days.  We are offering  this price so that everyone can afford to come.

Accommodations can be arranged through Colm Kelly and are in addition to the camp cost.  We have reserved cabins in Vacation Village which is 4 miles from the National Training Center.  These cabins are very reasonably priced, clean and have everything you need to be comfortable.  Colm will address any cost and accommodation issues.

Colm will now be accepting $200 as a down payment for either week in April.  The balance is due January 31/09.  Camp slots are limited to 30 for each week.  Once we have received your down payment we will forward you the accommodation, airport pick up, and camp schedule and information. We are holding the camps the first and third week of April.   For a very reasonable cost we can rent the cabins for the entire month, so there will be the option of staying later, or coming early if you would like to get in another week of sun or bring the family down.

For our Coaching we had a Great Staff
Serious but providing a laugh.
Kyle you're great with a story
We'll watch you and Nic race to glory.
Then, of course there is our Connor
Other juniors, "Watch Out" you're a gonner.
Mid-week they're arriving
As our asses start dragging
Steve with wetsuits in tow
Paolina raring to go.
So Miss Pilates, Dianna May
Tries to repair us at the end of the day.
Bike Guru Gary
Showed us wheel truing, and many things we should be doing.
Our financial man Colm Kelly
Though old, has fire in His belly.
How fortunate to have Coach Len
Surely, the fittest of men
A Triathlon Legend of Note
He is sure to get everyone's vote
For his generous sharing and thoughtful caring
A great coach and motivator is He
A role model of what we be.
Now of course there is Ms. Fraser
For whom this camp is a trail blazer
From the feedback we hear
There was nothing to fear
Its been a Great Success
In fact the BEST!
It was truly a treat
When will it repeat??
To sum up-we've learned many skills
From stroke drills to the climbing of Hills
Race experiences shared
To make us much more prepared
But the priceless gem  amongst all of them
To get to the Podium....MIGHT TAKE IMODIUM!!!
